Supporting environmentally sustainable programs, particularly the conservation and restoration of the country’s marine resources, has always been one of the company’s priorities as it continues to give back to the environment where it operates. The company does this through its own mangrove rehabilitation initiative dubbed as the Adopt-a-Mangrove program.
The preservation of the marine life is close to the heart of Harbor Star.
The Adopt-a-Mangrove program is Harbor Star’s way of giving back to Mother Nature and underlines the corporate character of HSSSI – profitability anchored on responsibility.
Harbor Star gives utmost consideration to environment protection particularly the coast where its business is dependent on, thus its CSR programs are geared towards achieving this goal of giving back to the communities and sustaining the coasts.
The valuable partnership with Barangay Banoyo, Municipality of San Luis, Batangas, and Provincial Government Environment and Natural Resource Office (PGENRO) work together in perfect harmony to protect, propagate and expand the mangrove plantation.
Today, Barangay Banoyo has gained popularity as a learning destination for mangrove restoration initiatives. Schools and private organizations flock to the area to participate in the coastal clean-up and planting activities. The with the barangay and municipal officials has moved up even to the provincial government level to work hand in a concerted effort
According to Harbor Star President Geronimo P. Moving forward, Harbor Star is determined to continuously participate in the Adopt-a-Mangrove program. Since its launch in 2013, its employees, family, and friends together with the Banoyo community continue to visit the site and participate in mangrove planting and clean up quarterly. The company also seeks be at the forefront of educating its stakeholders, through orientations, on the importance of taking care of the environment and how the Adopt-a-Mangrove program will help our ecosystem.
